Home Office Records Sounds: The Burner Room

...And Suddenly a Great Noise Came

Check out some of the sounds from Burner, the Home Office Records compilation of great new East Village music!
A sample from bluecowboys' most excellent waxing "Skin" (36.75 seconds in 396k, or you can choose the lite version instead -- a mere 17.74 seconds in 191k). The full version of this song is the lead cut on Burner compilation. Matter of fact, the third cut is "Wolf," and here are 41.58 seconds from that one too (447K); or if you're in a hurry, 18.44 seconds for a mere 198k.

Home Office Records recording artists Pawnshop contribute early demos to Burner, and here are 38.95 smooth seconds of their lead song "Words" (409k). If you're a person of few words, try these 18.44 seconds of the same at only 198k. This is one of four Pawnshop tracks on the album. "Wild Rose" is another (39.55 seconds at 425K); also available as a mere bud of 198k for 18.45 seconds' worth.

RAW Kinder has released their first solo recording, but their first appearance on CD was right here. The band anchors the "Burner" CD with four stark tunes. Here are just 34.83 seconds of "Wishin'" to whet your appetite (375K). In a hurry? Try our Kinder knots from "Songhead" (18.55 seconds, 199k) and "Back to the Lemon Garden" (also 18.55 seconds for 199k).
Rob Schwimmer's rolling ivories -- er, well, rolling plastics, in this case -- tickle 18.56 seconds of the estimable "East Village Hoedown" (199k), for your promenading pleasure; this is the wee-est tip of the iceberg! Catch the full 6:14 in all its wacky splendor on the Burner CD.

Finally, from the electric guitar -- and the eclectic toolbox -- of Mark Stewart (of Bang on a Can All-Stars fame) come these 18.49 seconds (199k) of solo live "Trummings," to round off our current selection of excerpts from Burner.

We mean it.
It's one of those nights. I'm already late to see Trina Hamlin with Bill Dobrow at the Living Room; then Jake does a set, and I'm looking forward to seeing her. Which means that I'll miss The Novellas at CB's Gallery, and I hate to miss The Novellas, but sometimes you just gotta. Then Alice Texas is at Brownies at midnight, and if Arlene runs late enough I'll have time to catch Lach there. And I still need to shower and get dressed. Right, I'm outta here.
