How wild that these songs could sound completely different at first, but upon continued listens they showed themselves to have that same eerie, seductive charm wrapped in layers & layers of musical subterfuge that heighten the sensibilities of the ears & mind.
You've joined us here at the Home Office Records one-stop full-service fan and information site for New York's new kids in the clubs, RAW Kinder. And welcome to you! That's lead singer and songwriter Renée Annabel Wilson on the left and right of us ... the Hall of Renée serves, here as elsewhere, as the entry point to this furiously-fresh trio.
RAW Kinder first played out in rather different form at the Brooklyn Anchorage back in August of 1995. The tightly fit ensemble that has newly released their stark and startling solo debut, EP, is a shining child of those tender roots, entrancing audiences and weaving dense, magical music from the poetry and turmoil of life in and out of the turgid creative scatter of the East Village. Their sound is intense and sedate, polished and naive, haunting and comforting, drawn from deep in the heart and pulsing with inner life. From Renée's powerful vocals to Charlie Carroll's raunchy, precise guitar work to Ian O'Brien's encompassing, overarching keyboards and orchestrations, this band packs gentle strength into a package that practically radiates heat and light.
Very interesting music, with Charlie Caroll's guitarz as th' focal point. This isn't "Madison Square Garden" level yet -- but it COULD be! I think this is a group to watch out for in th' next coupla' years ... they get a HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for any who enjoy swirling vocal psych-rock.
While you're here we have some sounds to keep you company, from both the band's new release and their 1997 first appearance on the Home Office Records compilation Burner. These are .wav files and they'll take a few minutes to download. Four of the new EP songs are available in Real Audio 5 at the CD Baby on-line indie music distribution center, where EP is for sale via secure credit card ordering (we make more if you buy it from us, but we're checks-only at this time). Please join the RAW Kinder mailing list for news and current comings and chit-chat that didn't make the Web site, and if you'd like to contact the band to pass on your feelings and questions about their music and shows, this is indubitably the Right Place to Be.

I wanted to tell you what a terrific time I had at the RAW Kinder CD release party. It was one of the best nights of music I have been to in a long time. I have been enjoying the RAW Kinder EP all evening. It is very interesting and sounds great. I love "Dreamin" a lot. The last song, "Damp," kind of reminds me of Cindy & Kate of the B-52's covering Patti Smith. RAW Kinder have a very unique feel to them.
What's to Come: There's a full-length RAW Kinder album lurking in the future, and on these pages we will bring you news on that and whatever band buzz is happening around. In the meantime, you can visit the rest of the RAW Kinder pages: learn what that name means (and how to say it), catch up on some past history, check out new show dates in our Gigometer, and plan with us for future projects near and far.
The new RAW Kinder CD will receive regional college radio promotion and very limited regional distribution (apart from worldwide availability, of course, here on the Web). The band will play regionally and in New York City. To book RAW Kinder in your area or to sell EP in your city or town, please email Home Office Records or call (718) 858-3174. We aim to please. But not too early in the morning.
